Purpose of the Job
The incumbent will report to the General Manager and is responsible for overseeing the operational and credit functions within the organization and will also play a critical role in ensuring smooth operations, efficient credit management, and effective risk mitigation strategies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement operational policies, procedures, and standards to streamline processes and improve efficiency.
  • Oversee day-to-day banking operations, including customer-oriented services.
  • Monitor operational performance metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify areas for improvement and optimize processes.
  • Coordinate with finance to ensure alignment of operational activities with business objectives.
  • Implement quality control measures to maintain high standards of service delivery and customer satisfaction.
  • Develop and implement credit policies, guidelines, and procedures to manage credit risk effectively in line with the BoG regulations.
  • Evaluate creditworthiness of customers, review credit applications, and establish credit limits and terms.
  • Monitor accounts receivable aging and collection efforts to minimize bad debt losses and improve cash flow.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with customers, banks, and credit agencies to facilitate credit approval and collection processes.
  • Conduct periodic credit reviews and assessments to identify potential risks and opportunities for improvement.
  • Identify operational and credit-related risks and develop strategies to mitigate them.
  • Implement internal controls and compliance measures to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
  • Conduct regular assessments of operational and credit processes to identify gaps and areas for improvement.
  • Collaborate with senior management and other stakeholders to develop risk mitigation strategies and contingency plans.
  • Supervise and mentor operations and credit team members, providing guidance and support as needed.
  • Foster a culture of teamwork, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the business.


Qualifications

  • Master’s or bachelor’s degree in business   administration, finance, risk management, finance, accounting, actuarial, engineering or related field or professional certification (ICA, ACCA, CFA).


Experience

  • Minimum of Five (5) years relevant working experience in a similar role.
  • Proven experience in operations management, banking operations, credit analysis, and risk management, preferably in a managerial role.
  • Leadership abilities, with experience in supervising and motivating teams to achieve business goals.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and with external stakeholders.
